Guided Trail Runs 2025

Guided monthly Sunday trail runs exploring the footpaths, tracks and trails in the beautiful countryside surrounding Waddesdon village.

Starting in May 2025 each run will be between 8-15km (5-9 miles) and will take a different route each month.

You need to be comfortable running the distance on road but you do not need trail running experience. These are social runs, focused on the experience of the trails, rather than the speed of the run.

The cost for each run is £5 with the money going to Amberwood Animal Sanctuary, a farm animal sanctuary based in the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire borders.

All runs start at 9am and we meet outside Waddesdon School.

As this is a charity fundraiser any cancellations less than 24 hours of the run will not be refunded.

Additional Information and FAQs

Please wear trail shoes if you have them. Road shoes will be okay if the paths are dry. However, as the runs will go ahead whatever the weather if it has been raining trail shoes will give you more grip. Depending on the weather you may also need sunscreen or a waterproof jacket.
These guided runs are a perfect introduction to trail running! You don't have to worry about where you are running or planning a route as I have done that all for you! Trail running is a bit different to road running. There are usually a few more hills and uneven surfaces, and you may find that you run slower at first on the trails. But that is also what makes it fun, and there are plenty of opportunities to stop and admire the views!
The routes are a mixture private roads, footpaths through fields and farm tracks.
These are social runs, not a race. We run at the pace of the slowest runner, which means if you are faster I will give you the opportunity to do some out and back loops or stop ahead to admire the views.
These are social runs, not a race. We run at the pace of the slowest runner and I make sure no one is left behind. Trail running is fun and sociable and my guided runs are focused on the experience of the trails, rather than the speed of the run.
Short answer is yes! Almost all of the runs have some hills, some bigger than others. BUT you don't have to run them all! Walking part of a hill is okay. It gives you a chance to have a drink, or a snack, or chat to your fellow runners.
Please bring some water and any snacks you think you will need.
